"Europe does not fall from the sky"
15.10. 2022 - 11.12.2022
From Octboer 15 to December 11, 2022, live in the historic center of Treviso a new contemporary art exhibition titled Europe does not fall from the sky, organized by Fondazione Imago Mundi and born from a collaboration with the City of Treviso. Free admission.
The exhibition Europe does not fall from the sky, and the series of public events that will accompany it are intended to reflect on what it means to be european today and what idea of democracy, social and civic life Europe embodies. The title of the exhibition, in fact, is a direct reference to the book that collects various speeches by Altiero Spinelli, considered the father of European federalism, in which he sets out his reflections on the vicissitudes and evolutions of what would later become the European Union. The exhibition does not pretend to define what future Europe or the European Union may have, but to address, through contemporary art, ever-hot topics such as borders, identity, sense of belonging, shared values, reflecting on the multiplicity of cultures, languages and traditions, or showing the result of dissonances and conflicts.
Each of the 4 sections of the exhibition, displayed in 4 cultural spaces in the historic center of Treviso, seeks to shed light on different aspects of current European affairs, through:
20 contemporary artists: Matthew Attard, Gabriele Basilico, Maurizio Cattelan, Jasmina Cibic, Braco Dimitrijević, Claire Fontaine, Olexa Furdiyak, Marco Godinho, Dan Halter, Emilio Isgrò, Yurii Ivantsyk, Annette Lemieux, Richard Mudariki, Santiago Sierra, Arcangelo Sassolino, Giulio Squillacciotti, Slavs & Tatars, Giuseppe Stampone, Paolo Ventura, Dominique White
