Santiago Sierra | First solo show in Milan

The course of action as Art gender contrasts for its live structure with the conventional representation of the art work.
This is the basic structure of interference used by Santiago Sierra (Madrid, 1966) in order to annoy and act on the reality.
“Los Anarquistas”, is the title of the action thought for the space “Volume!” in Rome and realized during the Christmas night of 2006. The action wants to join the political reflection of the artist to the most exemplar connotation of the city of Rome, strictly linked to the Vatican State, who exerts a great influence on the whole city, even on the sharing of mass tourism.

The action realized in Rome, presented only the first step of Sierra’s project, which counts as second step its show at Prometeogallery in Lambrate, where the project will be shown to the audience for the first time.
The artist wants that this action can be realized into the roman space at the only presence of about ten users personally invited. No press release or invitation have been sent to the public.
The anarchy, is defined as the ideological expression of the concept of individual freedom, is contrasted by the action for verticism of the roman catholic Church,touching the largest question of individual freedom into the coercive, physical and subliminal structures, pervasive more than ever, of the contemporary society.

The action is documented by the artist by means of pictures and videos, it is shown to the audience only at the moment of the presentation on Friday 11th, January. 7.00 pm, at Prometeogallery di Ida Pisani.
